About Dean Elhag, MD
Dr. Dean Elhag joined The Iowa Clinic Hematology Oncology department in 2025, where he looks forward to providing exceptional care to patients with cancer and blood disorders in a collaborative and multidisciplinary team.
Dr. Dean Elhag earned his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego, and pursued post-baccalaureate research in stem cell and tissue engineering at the Sanford Consortium in La Jolla, CA. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, followed by an internal medicine internship at the University of Utah. Dr. Elhag then completed his internal medicine residency and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where he served as Chief Fellow.
Dr. Elhag will begin seeing patients on January 29.
