About Douglas Schulte, MD
Douglas Schulte, MD, worked at The Iowa Clinic for over twenty years before continuing his career for two years in Africa, where he partnered with the Mercy Ships organization. There, he worked as a Head and Neck Surgeon and Deputy Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Schulte decided to return to The Iowa Clinic upon completing his time on the ship because of the honest and skillful care that is provided here.
Born and raised in Des Moines, Dr. Schulte continues to serve with the Pan-African Association of Christian Surgeons across Africa. In his free time, he enjoys restoring vintage European cars and long-distance motorcycle rides.
