About Juan Arenas, MD
Dr. Juan Arenas brings over 26 years of experience in transplant surgery to The Iowa Clinic’s Transplant Surgery department. His passion for transplantation stems from its impact on patients’ lives, offering them a “new lease on life” almost immediately after a successful procedure. For Dr. Arenas, the specialty’s unique combination of surgical precision and ongoing patient care during the post-operative period allows him to continuously apply his clinical judgement and skills.
Growing up in Bucaramanga, Columbia, South America, Dr. Arenas worked alongside his father, a surgeon, from the age of 14. This early exposure to the field of surgery shaped his dedication to patient care and drive to make a lasting impact in people’s lives.
