Types of Chemotherapy We Provide
The type of chemotherapy you receive depends on a variety of factors, including where your cancer is located, what stage it’s in and your overall health. It may be used as a cure or either in preparation or follow-up to other treatments. Chemo can be delivered in many ways:
- Infusions through an IV
- Creams
- Pills
- Shots
Tests That Ensure You're Ready for Chemo
Chemotherapy is hard on the body. It kills both fast-growing cancer cells as well as healthy cells, which causes a lot of side effects. Your oncologist will run multiple tests before, during and after chemo to assess your health and the effects of chemotherapy:
- Blood tests to check kidney and liver function
- Heart tests to determine whether your body is ready
- Imaging and scans to monitor the effectiveness of treatment
