Vasectomy Reversal

Is a vasectomy reversible?

A vasectomy reversal, also known as a vasovasostomy, is a surgical procedure that reattaches the severed ends of the vas deferens (the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to the urethra). This procedure is performed to restore a man's fertility after he has undergone a vasectomy.

What occurs during a vasectomy reversal?

This procedure is done in the OR. During a vasectomy reversal, the surgeon makes small incisions in the scrotum to access the vas deferens and carefully reattaches them using fine sutures. Success rates for vasectomy reversals vary depending on factors such as the length of time since the vasectomy and the age and fertility of the man.

Is a vasectomy reversal successful?

It's important to note that a vasectomy reversal is not always successful, and it can be a costly and invasive procedure. It's recommended to discuss all options for fertility restoration with a healthcare provider before proceeding with a vasectomy reversal.

Important Note:

This procedure is typically not covered by insurance. Costs for a vasovasostomy are due prior to procedure.
