Buttock Lift

What is a buttock lift?

A buttock lift improves the shape and tone of the tissue that supports the skin and fat on your behind. A variety of factors can cause your buttocks to sag, including aging, pregnancy, genetics, sun damage and weight gains and loss. A buttock lift smooths out the tissue to enhance the appearance and remove excess skin or fit.

A buttock lift pulls up the skin around your buttocks to improve the shape and surface of your butt. Unlike a Brazilian butt lift which adds volume and symmetry to your buttocks, a buttock lift removes excess saggy skin and lifts for a more toned look.

There are two main types of buttock lift:

Lower body lift: This procedure involves lifting the buttocks and thighs. It is usually done through an incision in the crease of the buttocks.

Transverse gluteal crease lift: This procedure involves lifting the buttocks through an incision in the transverse gluteal crease, which is the natural crease that runs across the buttocks.

The specific technique used will depend on the individual's needs and goals.

What happens during buttock lift surgery?

Buttock lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. The incisions are made, and the surgeon lifts the buttocks and removes excess skin and fat. The muscles may also be tightened. The incisions are then closed with stitches or staples. Buttock lift surgery can take anywhere from two to four hours. Patients typically stay in the hospital for one night.

What is buttock lift surgery recovery like?

Recovery from buttock lift surgery takes several weeks. Patients will need to wear compression garments to help reduce swelling and bruising. They may also need to avoid strenuous activity for several weeks.

What are the risks of buttock lift surgery?

The results of buttock lift surgery can be dramatic and long-lasting. However, it is important to note that no surgical procedure is without risks. Possible complications of buttock lift surgery include infection, bleeding, scarring, and asymmetry.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind about buttock lift surgery:

  • Buttock lift surgery is not a weight loss procedure. It is intended to improve the shape and firmness of the buttocks, not to reduce their size.
  • Buttock lift surgery is not a cure for cellulite. However, it can improve the appearance of cellulite by lifting the buttocks and reducing sagging.
